A fine clean copy of the catalogue produced to accompany this major touring exhibition originating at The Herbert Museum and Art Gallery, Coventry in April 1990, and exhibited at Lister Park, Bradford, the South London Art Gallery, Peckham, London, Ipswich Museum, the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool, and finally at the Castle Museum, Nottingham in March - April 1991. The exhibition sought to examine links between self-portraiture and the Black community, by assembling self-portraits by 57 artists, including Said Adrus, Medina Hammad, Ingrid Pollard and Ibrahim Wagh. Catalogue includes images from all of the artists in the exhibition, and features 46 colour reproductions and 18 monochrome reproductions. Introductory text by Eddie Chambers looking at the history and unique status of the Black self-portrait, with foreword by Patrick Day, Principal Keeper at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum. Soft covers, 66 pages.
