A large and highly decorative Pair of Late 19th Century Antique "Dresden" Porcelain Figurines of a Gallant and his Lady, here disporting themselves gaily in their brightly enamelled and gilded finery. He stands beside a marble pillar, inviting admiration, while his companion shows off her dress to admiring glances. The underside of each piece with blue crossed swords mark. Perhaps German, from one of the many imitators of Meissen to be found in Saxony during the latter part of the 19th Century, or, equally possible, French, produced in the atelier of that Master Copyist, Edmé Sampson of Paris. Either way, a beautiful pair, in fine condition, guaranteed to raise the spirits on a dull afternoon.
