This atmospheric Late 20th Century English Porcelain Dished Cabinet Plate bears all of the hallmarks of Reg Johnson's outstanding talent as a ceramics painter "par excellence". Beautifully decorated with an image of "John Constable's Haywain in Winter", clearly inspired by the original East Anglian painting, of "The Hay Wain" by John Constable, { Circa 1821 }, and with gilded plain border, this lovely piece was probably designed to be displayed as a pair with Our Stock Ref. EPDCPWSRJ-68 { "Winter Scene" }, and offers the perfect introduction to the works of this talented Staffordshire artist, examples of whose work may now be viewed at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. Signed on the obverse, Reginald Johnson, the reverse John Constable's Haywain in Winter by Reginald Johnson 1977.
