This lovely Late 20th Century English Porcelain Cabinet Plate, signed upon the obverse and delicately hand-painted by the artist with Paphiopedilum Insigne, a species of orchid endemic to the Indian States of Assam and Meghalaya, bears all of the hallmarks of Reg Johnson's outstanding talent as a ceramics painter "par excellence". Superbly decorated and with a heavily gilded beaded border, this fine piece offers the perfect introduction to the works of this talented Staffordshire artist, examples of whose work may now be viewed at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery. The underside signed in puce script, viz. :- Paphiopedilum. Insigne by Studio Potter Reginald Johnson.
