This delightful Mid 20th Century Vintage Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurine, "Miss Muffet" ~ HN 1936, depicts the character from the popular childrens' nursery rhyme :-
"Little miss Muffet she sat on her tuffet, eating her curds eating and whey
Along came a spider who sat down beside her
And frightened miss Muffet away"
Decorated in a red colourway, she was designed by leading artist Leslie Harradine and was issued from 1940 to 1967. The underside fully marked in green with the Royal Doulton printed backstamp for the period, "Miss Muffet", and in green script, HN 1936, plus the Painter's Monogram, JB, unidentified but recorded as working at Doulton Circa 1955 to 1959.
