A fine example of this uncommon Mid / Late 20th Century Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurine, "Schoolmarm" HN 2223, designed by Margaret "Peggy" Davies and issued from 1958 - 1981. The kind though rather stern School-mistress, decorated in a purple, grey and brown colourway, sits at her desk, clearly admonishing her pupils, the "Dunce's Cap" offering a glimpse into the schoolroom of days gone by. The base fully marked in green with the printed Royal Doulton backstamp of the period, COPR. 1957, DOULTON AND CO. LIMITED, Four Registered Numbers and an illegible impressed mark.
