A rare and fine Early 20th Century Vintage Royal Doulton English Porcelain Figurine, "The Little Mother" ~ HN 1418, decorated in a purple colourway, designed by leading Doulton artist, Leslie Harradine , and issued from 1930 to 1938. The underside fully marked in green with the Royal Doulton printed backstamp as used from 1927 to 1932, this together with the numeral 11, indicating that this figurine was issued in 1938, "The Little Mother", Rd. No. 753475, { for 1930 }, in green script, "The Little Mother", HN 1399, { this clearly an error, since this refers to the earlier, although essentially identical figurine, issued under the name "The Young Widow" in 1930 }, Potted by Doulton & Co., and in red, the Painter's Monogram BC { interlaced }, for Bertha M. Capes, recorded as working at Doulton from Circa 1927 onwards. Affixed paper label of Pascoe and Company of Miami, arguably America's leading dealers in Royal Doulton figurines, from whom this piece was acquired in years gone by. We would here wish to pay tribute to Ed Pascoe, who deserves great credit for his success in largely creating the market for Royal Doulton products in North America.
