A good set of Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Brass and Mahogany Apothecary Scales by May, Roberts & Co., Wholesale Pharmacists of of 9 - 11 Clerkenwell Green, London, offered here together with a spare glass tray and some 33 weights of various sizes. The mahogany base, with integral drawer and brass pull, inset with a small ivory plaque with engraved Maker's Name, viz. MAY, ROBERTS & Co. Ltd. XXXXXX LONDON. This enterprise originated as a partnership between Chemists, Samuel Roberts and F. Sykes, continuing as such until 1888, when it was succeeded by May Roberts, which company, after passing through several incarnations now, as Cahill, May, Roberts, forms part of Irish pharmacutical wholesalers, Uniphar of Dublin.
