An Ex Libris First Edition copy, from Dorset County Library, of "Starting to Collect Silver", by John Luddington, published by The Antique Collectors' Club of Woodbridge, Suffolk, in 1984. This fascinating book describes, in an easy to read manner, the many problems and pitfalls which face the novice; and to strengthen his points, the author includes copious illustrations of interesting pieces. His method of analysing the value of pieces is excellent and cannot but fail to leave the novice with a much clearer understanding of the complex factors which go to make up the assessment of quality of a piece of silver. Some water damage to the first few pages, which however does not obtrude into the body of the work. Hard covers, large format, 225 pages, original dust jacket.
