A good Early 19th Century Antique English Victorian Blue and White Transfer Pottery Plate, printed in a dark blue palette with the "Village Church" pattern. Coysh and Henrywood note, in Volume II of their Dictionary of Blue and White Printed Pottery 1780 - 1880, { Reprinted 1992 }, that despite this being a popular pattern, which appears to have been used by a number of potters, only one single piece has to date been recorded bearing a Maker's Mark, being that of James and Ralph Clews of Cobridge , Staffordshire, { 1818 - 1834 }. Unmarked.
