Description

A most attractive and useful Late 19th Century Antique English Victorian Brass and Iron Door Porter / Doorstop, the design incorporating a "Lion's Head", perhaps a reference to the "British Lion", symbol of national strength so popular at the time. Produced by William Tonks & Sons of Moseley Street, Birmingham, { Founded Circa 1789 }, the reverse of the inset iron shoe fully marked with impressed Maker's Mark, W.T. & S. beneath a Sun device, together with the Registration Number 8807 { for 1884 }.
