Description

A good Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Pewter Pint Tavern Jug formerly in everyday use at The Green Dragon, 9 Sydney Street, Brighton, the hostelry having opened there in 1854 when the Crimean War was at it's height. No Maker's Marks, but 19th Century Sussex Weights and Measures Inspector's Stamp plus Capacity Mark "PINT", the body engraved in script, Green Dragon, Sydney St., together with E. Carter, who is likely to have been the original Landlord of the tavern. The establishment remains in business to this day, and, following a spell as "The Office", offering Thai cuisine, is once more trading as The Green Dragon.
