A good Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Portrait Figure of "Sir Colin Campbell" ~ P C271 ~ H 97P, seated on horseback on a titled base with raised gilt capitals. Appointed to the command of the Highland Brigade at the outbreak of the Crimean War in 1854. General Campbell was largely responsible for the victory at the Battle of Alma. Subsequently appointed Commander of the British Forces in India at the outbreak of the Mutiny in July 1857, he is credited with effecting the lifting of the Siege of Lucknow in November of that year.
