An attractive Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Jug, colourfully decorated in an "Imari" palette of Iron Red and Cobalt Blue, the clear Registration Mark to the base indicating that the design was registered on 15th November 1845. Two jugs of identical shape, although each decorated in a different pattern may be seen illustrated on pages 54 and 55 of Volume I of Monica A. South's excellent work, "Gaudy Welsh ~ A Visual Reference Book", where the author confirms that the form of the jug was registered as an ornament on that date by Bayley & Ball of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire.
