A large, decorative and titled Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Royal Portrait Figure, "Prince and Princess"~ P A221 ~ H 669, depicting Princess Alexandra of Denmark and the Prince of Wales. Standing, on a titled base, with gilt raised capitals, Princess Alexandra with her left hand on his arm, her right on her waist, holding a bonnet, wearing a jacket and long dress. The Prince of Wales with his right hand across his waist, holding a pair of gloves, his left to his side, holding a top hat. This the larger of the two recorded sizes of this figure, was probably issued to celebrate the engagement of the Royal couple which took place in September 1862.
