Extremely well potted, this lively Mid 19th Century Antique English Victorian Staffordshire Pottery Spill Vase, modelled as a Stag chased by a Dog ~ H 2916, evokes instantly the lightening movement of the two beasts while, at the same time, the Potter has managed successfully to capture, as sharply as any modern photograph, the innate tension engendered by the Hunt. Catalogued by Harding in "Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835 - 1875", as Fig. 2916, this spill vase is the pair to Fig. 2915.
